The CPS Team

Lindsey A. Wolko, Founder/CEO.  A long-term pet safety advocate, Ms. Wolko leads a mission that is personal to every pet owner. With a keen understanding of the pet industry, she has authored safety standards for pet products, launched a certification program, counseled pet product manufacturers around the globe and works tirelessly for consumer and companion animal safety.  Ms. Wolko has a background in project/program management as well governance/controls development.  Ms. Wolko holds a bachelors degree from George Mason University.  She currently leads the research division of CPS.

Chris Sherwood – Biomechanics/ Passenger Safety Consultant. Chris Sherwood is a former senior research engineer for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). He is currently employed by Biocore, LLC, a biomechanics consulting and research firm. Mr. Sherwood holds a Master’s Degree in Biomechanics and has been actively involved in the research and development of automotive child safety standards.

Steve Fazlovic – Independent Safety Consultant.  Steve Fazlovic is an Operations Management Professional with extensive experience in transportation and occupant safety engineering for the automotive, aerospace, defense, battery, child restraint systems, mobility, and defense industries.  Mr. Fazlovic holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

Robin Burkett, Creative/Photography/Videography.  Ms. Burkett is an award-winning photographer specializing in pet photography.  The owner of Paw Prints Photography, Ms. Burkett brings her endless creative energy to capture the important work of CPS.  Her work has been featured on NBC Today Show, Bark Magazine, Elan, Cat Fancy, the Washington Post, and covers for NOVA Dog Magazine.

Heidi Bartruff, Award Winning Plush Designer.  Ms. Bartruff lends her extraordinary talents in toy and plush design to further the marketing and educational potential behind the CPS mission.  The owner of Heidi & Co, her creations include the development of our crash test dog personalities, plush prototypes, and other creative roles within the organization.  Ms. Bartruff’s creations have been featured on NBC Today Show.  Her first illustrated Children’s Book “The Wish” won the DOVE organization’s highest rating and won the Mom’s Choice Award in 2010.

CPS also works engages professional consultants supporting graphic design, communications, social media, engineering, survivability, and veterinary on an as-needed basis.

Board of Directors:  Center for Pet Safety maintains a small Board of Directors.  As our mission continues to evolve, we welcome inquiries from potential new Board members.  Board members must not be affiliated with the pet products industry, and must be willing to commit to the continued growth of our mission for a period of no less than 2 years.  We are especially interested in engaging specialty veterinary and engineering candidates, as well as candidates with fundraising and partnership expertise. Consumer Advisory Board:  Center for Pet Safety feels it is critical to ensure pet owners have a voice in our efforts.  We maintain a small Consumer Advisory Board to help guide our mission.

Center for Pet Safety is currently working with multiple universities to assist with ongoing research efforts.
